Choosing a catamaran for your group
- Three cabins
The Catathai 34 Open and the Comar Comet CAT 37 take up to 6 overnight guests, for couples, families and small groups.
- Four cabins
The Nautitech 40 Open takes up to 8 overnight guests, for larger families and groups of friends.
- Five cabins
The Mazarin 55 is the largest yacht in our fleet and takes up to 10 overnight guests in five double cabins.
A skipper has a separate skipper's cabin and does not use a guest cabin, so your group can use every guest cabin up to the overnight guest limit. Sleeping arrangements for a chef, deckhand or hostess are confirmed in the quote.
Bareboat or skippered catamaran charter
Bareboat
You sail the catamaran yourselves. At least one person in your group needs a sailing licence; licences issued in any country are accepted. Without a licence, a skipper is required. Read the Phuket bareboat charter guide.
With a skipper
A professional skipper operates the catamaran and plans the passages around conditions, at EUR 175 per day. A chef, deckhand or hostess can be added at EUR 175 per person per day. See charter services.
Catamaran charter costs
Prices depend on the catamaran, dates, duration and selected services. Select a yacht and dates to view the charter total. From day 8, the yacht rate for each additional day is reduced by 10%. Crew services and cleaning are not discounted.
- Charter total
- Includes the yacht charter, final cleaning and 7% VAT on the yacht charter.
- Not included
- Fuel (the yacht is delivered with full tanks; refuel before return), national park fees, and food and drinks are paid separately. We can buy provisions before boarding: goods at cost plus a service fee of 10% of the purchase amount (minimum EUR 100), paid at check-in; send your shopping list at least 72 hours before departure. Generator use costs EUR 5 per hour.
- Security deposit
- For bareboat charters, each catamaran has a fixed refundable security deposit, shown above. It is taken as a credit card pre-authorisation at check-in, before handover. No security deposit is required for skippered charters.
- Payment
- Bookings made more than 45 days before departure require a 50% deposit, with the balance due 45 days before departure. Bookings within 45 days require full payment.

Catamaran charters can follow any of our sample routes, from 3 days in Phang Nga Bay to week-long routes to the Similan Islands or the southern islands, subject to national park opening dates. Stops depend on charter length and weather.

How many guests can a catamaran take?
The Catathai 34 Open and the Comar Comet CAT 37 take up to 6 overnight guests in three cabins. The Nautitech 40 Open has four cabins and takes up to 8 overnight guests; the Mazarin 55 has five double cabins and takes up to 10. A skipper has a separate skipper's cabin and does not use a guest cabin. Sleeping arrangements for a chef, deckhand or hostess are confirmed in the quote.
Can we rent a catamaran in Phuket without a skipper?
Yes, if at least one person in your group holds a sailing licence. Licences issued in any country are accepted, for example ICC, RYA, ASA or a national certificate. Please send a copy with a brief summary of your sailing experience. Without a licence, a skipper is required (EUR 175 per day).
What is the minimum catamaran charter length?
Our private charters start at 3 days. Weekly and longer charters are available.
Where does the catamaran charter start?
All charters start and end at Yacht Haven Marina, on Phuket's north-east coast. Boarding is from 14:00 on the departure day, and the catamaran must be returned to Yacht Haven Marina by 10:00 on the return day. Guests check in at the Cruise Asia office at the marina and are then taken to the yacht.
Is a security deposit required?
For bareboat charters, yes. Each catamaran has a fixed refundable security deposit, shown below and on the yacht page. It is taken as a credit card pre-authorisation at check-in, before handover, and released after the return inspection, subject to the charter terms. No security deposit is required for skippered charters.
